Photography has become affordable and reachable for all. With new digital cameras the Internet and cheap photo processing software everybody can now afford to create photos process and publish them.

Photography has taken an exciting turn in the last years. With the proliferation of cheap but high end digital cameras along side with the availability of high bandwidth Internet access and free or cheap powerful photo processing software everybody can afford to create and publish a practically infinite number of digital photos.

Digital cameras are the first and most important element allowing everybody to become a better photographer. Digital cameras provide a few advantages over the old film based cameras that allow everybody to practice and achieve great photography skills. Digital cameras allow the immediate viewing of photos taken on the digital camera small LCD screen. This in return allows for improving the image composition and making corrections on the spot something that was impossible before. Digital cameras also allow taking photos at no cost at all. As opposed to film based cameras that required the costly development of the negatives digital cameras create photos in the form of computer files. The only cost of digital photos is the storage needed for them but with current media prices that price is extremely close to zero. The combination of being able to immediately review your photos and to also take as many photos as you like at no cost provides everybody with the ability to practice as much as needed in order to improve their photography skills. In addition being able to take a large number of photos provides higher chances of being able to choose a few photos out of the full collection that are high end good photos.

The Internet provides a great medium for photo publishing and for discussing photography with other users. There is a large number of Internet sites that deal with photography and digital cameras. You can talk with other people like you about your digital cameras getting ideas and tips for using it. You can also talk to people like you about general photography concept and thus improve your knowledge. The Internet provides a medium for publishing your digital photos to the general public or to a select group of friends. Publishing photos is not just a fun way to share your photography with friends and family it is also a good way to get feedback and improve. For example some photography web sites allow you to upload your photos in order for other users to provide their feedback about the photo. This in return allows you to improve in the future as such feedback can help you understand the good and the bad in your digital photos.

Digital photos are stored as computers files and as such they can also be processed by computer software. Processing digital photos can be very powerful. By processing photos you can correct problems in the original photo create effects and improve the photo quality. The most common and known such processing improvement is the removal of red eye effect. We have all seen pictures in which people have their eyes colored in strong red. The phenomenon is known as red eye and is a result of the camera flash interaction with the blood in people eyes. There are way to prevent red eye when taking the photo. One is by using a few pre flash strobes. Another is to use indirect flash lighting. Digital photos however can be processed by computers and thus red eye can be removed a long time after the photo is taken. Special photo processing software can identify and remove red eye from photos making them look better and natural.
