Wherever you go you hear people talking about how we must recycle everything so we can take care of our planet. Must we truly go to all of that trouble? Think about the fact that a single plastic shopping bag can take up to 1,000 years to completely break down. Remember, you're just talking about one shopping bag so that's a very long time. Think about the number of plastic bags you go through yearly, not just shopping bags but bin liners as well. Then times that by everyone in the country... it all adds up. We can choose to reuse it by recycling and keep it from sitting in a landfill decomposing for years. Lots of things are recycled these days, for instance old worn tires are shredded down and utilized as tread for playgrounds and can be remade into clothing. Almost all things can be recycled.
The town of Lemoore, California started a rigid recycling program 15 years ago. If the residents of Lemoore neglected to adopt the recycling rules, they were fined. Needless to say, a lot of residents abided by and recycling really helped this town. A water park and playground were created. Recycling also helped to fund basic municipal requirements, such as a police department, a fire station and funding for kids attending pre-school. Hence, not only does recycling help to reuse waste products, it can also earn cash for other things.
Most probably, you believe that you as a single person can't make a huge difference by your recycling but just visualize how much the world would change if everyone did just a little bit of a recycling. We could decrease the size of most landfills which, in turn, would save money in operating them and prevent damage to the local environment. Through recycling, we can take care of the planet and also help to raise money for people in need. We all come out a winner.
Even if the environment is not a priority for you, keep in mind that the beasts have to live here too. They are suffering because of troubles in the environment including global warming. Taking even little amounts of time to recycle can help to make the planet a better place for those yet to come.
Consider how long every thing you discard takes to rot. It was mentioned earlier that a plastic bag takes close to 1000 years to entirely decay. Obviously, there are several things we can't recycle at the moment, but with the technology becoming even more advanced we might find new ways of recycling and new uses of various materials. For now, there's definitely no reason we can't recycle plastics, metals, and glass. Recycling these materials is pretty convenient in several communities and is not costly, so it's a good idea to help the environment. We could do a lot of good if everyone chose to help.
