Stationery printing for business has two major aspects in its design. These major design considerations are what you should be aware of as you print for your business. Those two aspects are the letterhead printing for the stationery header and the stationery paper itself. Below are detailed descriptions of both of these aspects. This information should help you out in creating your own designs for letterhead printing.

1. The letterhead – Letterhead printing basically involves adding a top level header onto standard stationery pages that act as a banner displaying important company content like its name, logo, contact information and other crucial content. Letterheads add a respectable and official air to stationery, making a simple paper into a powerful and potent document. For letterhead printing there are three aspects about it that you should be aware of.

 Font styles – The letterhead font style is a major consideration when printing letterheads. The letterhead’s content will rely on its font style for it to be noticeable, creative and well understood. So it is always crucial to pick the right kind of fonts for your business stationery. Aim for simple but stylish fonts that are clear and easily understood. You don’t have to be too intricate in its style since this is an official document. Of course if you have a set theme for the holidays for example, festive fonts will be quite apt.

 Logos/Images – Another important element of a letterhead is its logos or images. Most business letterheads have the company logo displayed in a large size with all its full color glory. Business stationeries are as much official documents as they are marketing and public relations tools. So a company’s business image must be present in a business stationery through its logos and supporting images. So make sure to include an attractive business logo in your letterhead.

 Layout – Of course your letterhead content will not really look good without a decent layout. So you should consider it as the third most important aspect in letterhead printing. Aim for a nice clean layout that emphasizes the logo and company name for the letterhead. Typically the logo and name are located on the left hand side of the header since this is the place of a document where most people first look. Relegate other minor details in a subdued corner with small font sizes.

2. The Paper – Another important property of a business stationery is the paper stock. Though it is a subtle message, a business stationery’s paper material tells a lot about the business that uses it. Expensive and high quality stationery stocks mean that a firm is really serious about its business. Also there is an element of pride involved since expensive stationeries mark a company as a true and successful one in its field.

There are two major aspects of business stationery paper stock that you should know about.

 Size – First is the size of the stationery. For most, business stationeries should have around a letter-sized or 8.5 by 11 inch dimension. Most others even print something that is smaller than that, but absolutely everyone should not invest in anything larger. Since business stationeries are used for official documents, the standard letter size is the most practical way to print stationeries. Of course anything smaller will be welcome, especially if you are on a budget.

 Coating – Also, the paper coating should be a major concern for your stationery. Coating refers to the final finish of the paper stock whether it has a glossy reflective coating, or some ultra violet protection. This makes a subtle but important difference to the paper stock which can be the thin line between great looking stationeries from the bad ones.

Great! Hopefully you have learned something about stationery printing by reading this article. Keep all of this in mind as you do your own investment in business stationery printing. It will really be well worth the investment and most people appreciate the pride that it brings to the company.
