The Meta title and Meta description are the two Meta tags that you must optimize. It should include the main keywords that you are using to promote your product and services. The Meta tags and Meta description must briefly describe the content of the article. It is important you don’t repeat the main keywords too many times in the Meta tags. If you do, the search engine will never rank your site. Keyword spamming is considered as black hat SEO so you should never practice it.
The Meta title appears on top of the browser. It is the title of the document. It also appears in the search result. The Meta description is used as the description in the search result when the search engine couldn’t find a keyword in the content. The Meta description provides a second chance for your site to rank on the internet. Some people don’t optimize their content with keyword but they add the Meta description so they are able to rank in the search engine. It is best to add the Meta description and optimize your content with keywords. In this way, you will have a higher chance to rank for the targeted keywords in the search engine.
There is a limit as to the number of words of the Meta title that will display in the search result. If the Meta title is too long, the search engine will only shows the part which contain the keywords queried by the user. The Meta keywords should not contain too many keywords. Using too many keywords in the Meta keywords field will get your site flagged as spam by the search engine. You have to separate the individual keyword with a comma.
Many people like to include as many keywords as possible in the Meta keywords field. The problem is that the search engine will recognize you as spam when it detect that you are trying to manipulating it. It is a waste of time to include a huge list of keywords in the Meta keywords field because the search engine never cares about it. The Meta keywords simply give the search engine an idea of what your site is about. It will never rank your site based on the keywords included in the Meta keywords field.
