It is important that you make your site SEO friendly. If your site is SEO friendly, it will have a higher chance to rank on the internet. If your site is not optimized, you will find that it receives no traffic from the search engine.
The pages in your site should be reachable within at least 3 clicks. If your visitor has to click many times to reach a page, he will definitely be annoyed. The best thing is to compile a table of contents so that the visitors can easily browse the content on the site. Alternatively, you can put the links on the left or right side of the content. In this way, the search engine will be able to easily crawl the pages. If you don’t want to include the link on the left or right navigation bar, you can create a section called “Related Articles” and put the links of pages with related content in it. The navigational links should be positioned in a place which can be easily seen by the visitors.
You can create a sitemap for your site. There are many free sitemap generators that you can use to generate sitemap for your site. If your site contains more than 500 pages, you will have to pay a fee to include all the pages in the sitemap. If you know how to code a sitemap, you can create it yourself and save money. If you don’t know the code structure of the sitemap, you can reference an existing one.
It is best that you use subheadings in the content. The subheadings should be optimized with keywords. It helps to emphasize the topic of the page. The subheadings should not be presented in all capital letter. You only have to capitalize the first letter for each word. If you want to emphasize a keyword, you can bold or highlight it. The highlight color should not be too dark so as to prevent the visitor from viewing the word. It is recommended that use yellow as the highlight color. You should not repeat a keyword too many times in a certain paragraph. You must spread out the keywords randomly throughout the article. In this way, the search engine won’t be suspicious that you are trying to include keywords in your content.
If your site is made from flash, you should prepare a static version of the website. Though the search engine is able to index a flash, it is best to create a static HTML version to make sure that your site will be indexed. Up to date, the search engine is unable to read the text in the image. Therefore, you should not use image to represent the text. The text should be rendered in static HTML form. Flash makes your site look nice but it won’t help in your search engine ranking. In addition, flash takes a long time to load. Not everyone has a fast internet bandwidth. People with slow internet will find it difficult to browse your site. If possible, you should develop a static site instead of a flash site.
