You may have read many definitions of affiliate marketing and this one is an addition to your collection: "Affiliate marketing is the process of income sharing between online advertisers (and merchants) and online salespeople."
The level of income shared is based on performance measures, normally in the form of
. Clicks
. Sales
. Registrations
The two common terms are:
1) Affiliate merchants: The advertisers and merchants are known as Affiliate merchants.
2) Affiliates: Publishers or sales people are known as Affiliates.
There are many benefits but the one that most people are concerned and focused with is the potential for making huge amounts of money. This of course takes time and effort but you can save a large proportion of your effort by automating the advertising process to a targeted audience. In this way you will quickly receive payments for the desired results of sales, registrations or clicks and all for minimal effort on your part.

Affiliate marketing is in a league of its own because you can have everything under your full control. There are no stubborn bosses included in affiliate marketing to whom you have to adhere to plus you can select affiliate offers to suit your visitors and theme of your website or company. Ultimately of course you can start and stop affiliate campaigns as appropriate, for example, there is little interest in Christmas products in February.
Through affiliate marketing you can represent the products you know and love in the best possible way through the use of links and banners on your website, then when these are selected by your visitors you will be rewarded as already discussed.
