On site optimization is an important factor for ranking a site on the internet. It involves optimizing the different elements on your site such as navigation, anchor text, and quality content. It is important to link the pages on your site together. By linking the pages of the site together, the search engine will be able to crawl it. When the search engine is able to crawl the pages, it will be able to index them as well. If you don’t link between the pages, the search engine will have no way of crawling the pages. If it couldn’t crawl the pages, it won’t be able to index the pages as well. You can link between the pages by including anchor links within the content. The anchor text of the links should be the relevant to the page which you are pointing. It is not necessary to use the title of the destination page as the anchor text.
The anchor text should contain at least one keywords. Using the right anchor text will help the destination page to rank well even if it is an inbound links. If you don’t want to use anchor link, you can put navigation links beside the content. The navigation links can be placed anywhere on the webpage such as top, bottom, right or left of the content. The most important things is that it is put in a place where the visitor can see. If the content is very long, you should avoid putting it at the bottom of the page because no one will be able to see it. For pages with long content, you can put the navigation links on top or left or right side. You don’t have to list all the pages in the side navigation. You only have to list the relevant pages on the navigation links. For example, if the page is about “how to crate train a dog”, you can list all the dog training pages in the related pages section.
You should create contents that make people want to link to your site. The content must be informational and provide benefits to the readers. If the reader find your content interesting, they will talk about it on their blog. When they talk about your site, they will link back to the resourceful page. If you own a blog, they will send a trackback to you. The trackback is a link back to your blog. When someone post trackback, it will appear in the comment section.
If you want to get backlinks to your site, you can link exchange with other webmasters by asking them to link back to you. You have to link to the site first. You should not link to the site from the homepage. If you link to the site from the homepage, the pagerank juice will leak out to the site. You can create a special page where you place all the links. You should not name the page where you put the links as external links, or link page. You should give the page a better name such as related websites. If you name the page as external links, the search engine will know that the link building is not natural.
