Making a decision as to which photocopier to buy can be a daunting process seen as there are so many different photocopiers to choose from. They come in a range of models and with a range of different functions catering for your office needs. When looking for a photocopier for your business do you know what to look for and how the different features can affect your business? In this article I will be explaining some of the features that you should be aware of before deciding on the photocopier that’s right for you.
Quality and Speed:
Two aspects you need to consider firstly is quality of the copy and the speed with which the copy is produced. Let us momentarily look over these two aspects.
Quality
Firstly we will look at quality. The quality of the copier is evident in the printed copy and if your office requires good clear photocopies with fine print details then it is very important that quality be on the top of your list. Photocopies that do not have a good (I.Q) image quality could have one or more of these problems such as; banding- when there are light or darks bands are running over the image, streaks-usually caused by an oil based printer, and creases.
Speed
Speed refers to the rate at which a photocopier can produce photocopies over a given period of time. If your business relies on producing large numbers of copies fast, then the speed at which a photocopier can produce a copy is a very important feature that should be looked into. For light duty copy purposes a desk top photocopier can produce up to 10 copies a minute, while for heavier duty photocopy needs it is best to invest in a Copy Centre which although costs more will be able to give you around 22 copies per minute.
Desktop versus Copy Centres:
Consider the other machines needed for your business before deciding to buy a photocopier, as Copy Centres have multi functionality. If you are looking to buy other office equipment such as a fax or a scanner then why not look into buying a Copy Centre as they perform all the functions of printing, faxing, scanning and much more, which will save you space and money. If however your business requires you to do a few photocopies a day then a desktop version will be better suited to your office, at less of a cost.
Analog versus Digital:
Another aspect to consider when choosing your copier is whether you should choose an Analog or Digital copier. Analog copiers are the older types of copiers, yet are great value for money if you are just looking to do a few copies per day. Digital copiers however are better as they give you better quality prints and help you reduce the price per prints. Remember to only get a colour copier if it is essential to your business needs as colour prints greatly increase your price per copy.
