There's no other place on the planet that is as majestic and rigorous as Antarctica. The uniqueness also comes from the fact it's the only continent on earth that has never been bloodied by war. Even so, this single continent dwarfs both America and Europe combined. Due to it's harsh conditions, no germs can survive leaving men to die more to violent deaths than to natural.
Nowadays, Antarctica is a haven of scientific research and international detente, as scientists from all over the world, regardless of political relations, gather in their heated buildings in the ice cold continent and work together. Since the horrendous cold of Antarctica makes their bodies lose calories at an alarming rate, those living in Antarctica are forced to eat four generous meals a day just to keep up.
The endless days of Antarctica also brings forth the mass insomnia known as "The Big Eye". The summertime 3-am sunshine prevent many from sleeping comfortable. Antarctica loftily brags of the most distinctive club on earth, the "300 Degree Club." A bar the furthest south of the border exists in Antarctica, no matter what you buy it all costs the same, even if it is an expensive cognac. But a single night can lead to a massive bill. The nights are extremely long due to starting in April and staying that way until September.
The heartland of this continent is covered by a 9,000-foot sheet of moving ice. However, geologists believe that it also has enough gas, oil, and coal in it to heath the entire planet. What few laws there are in Antarctica, are definitely different - they don't extradite criminals, and anyone who would consider hiding out in nine million square miles of open, broad valleys, or in 15,000 ft. ranges of mountains, would have a tough time staying alive more than a few hours in what is the most incredible vicious environment in the world.
Even though Antarctica lacks a legal system, it enjoys the smallest incidence of crime than any other continent. If you wanted to commit a murder, you would do it in Antarctica, because you could never be prosecuted for it due to the lack of laws there. Even if someone knew about the murder, there are no extradition treaties or statutes that could be used to charge or prosecute the murderer.
Interestingly, ten nations fly their flags over Antarctica, but none of those ten claim even a foot of that continent. While there has never been any serious attempts to set up a permanent colony on Antarctica, at the South Pole there is some of the most sophisticated computers and other scientific equipment available.
Even though the residents here only stay for a short time, they have the highest IQ per person on this planet. Antarctica is unique in that for the entire population, college degrees exceed high school diplomas. No greater amount of scientific cooperation can be found anywhere else in the world, and it houses the best minds on Earth. Unlike any other land mass in the world, no nuclear experiments of any kind can take place on this continent.
While it has few criminal laws, Antarctica is home to some of the toughest environmental laws on the planet. Whaling and sealing are regulated there now, people seeking those trades requiring licenses to even be in those waters. Present day Antarctica is the playground of the world's top scientists who are strenuously involved in keeping it pristine.
