The X Factor franchise has now spread far and wide and this is because it is one of the few true family entertainment shows left, yet in every country the same question is being asked.
During the initial stages, like me you will have been surprised by the people who for whatever reason believed that they could sing and you wonder just who was advising these people.
I have only just realised that I was suffering from this effect and although at an early age I realised that I was no Sinatra or Bennett I still had the same problem.
If like me, you are a blogger or an article marketer you may very well suffer from the same effect as these people wanting to make their impression on the world.
You may even have the impression that you are following the right path and will become very successful for the same reason that these singers thought they had a good claim to international success.
How many comments do you get on your blog?
Tens, hundreds perhaps even thousands well if you are able to slot into one of these categories then well done you, you must be doing things right and its only a matter of time before you are discovered.
But let's take a step back and return to the living room of our little starlet from the English mining village, who are her audience?
Most probably her family and friends, who are too nice to speak their minds.
What does this have to do with your blogging, well you are doing alright you have plenty of comments, you are deleting all the nasty ones and Akismet is doing its job filtering the rest.
You now have your own little family that are only too pleased to leave a nice comment on your blog as they know you will return the favour.
Remember when I said that as you were getting lots of comments and that it was only a matter of time before you were discovered, well thanks to your own little loyal family it is very unlikely that you will ever get discovered.
You need to spread your wings and look for a totally honest reaction to your talents from someone who does not care about you returning the favour.
Perhaps a few dreams will get shattered and perhaps this will serve as a loud wake up call but until you take this step you will never grow beyond your circle of loyal friends.
You can be their beacon of hope leading them into the wider world of opportunity.
The starlet appeared on the talent show as she had been convinced by those around her that she had an amazing talent. Yet for most of them this is where the dream is extinguished, thanks to the totally honest opinion of someone who cares for them in an innocent and caring way.
For bloggers of course it is far harder to obtain the same level of honesty and innocence in a progress request. There is however a great way to do this that comes from the honest opinion of a very large corporation.
What keywords are you targeting in your blog, you should have one per category at the very least and perhaps a few more project orientated ones. How are these getting on and do you use these in each blog post?
If you do, then there is a fantastic tool that can tell you as an innocent party just how good your blogging is, in case you have not guessed it yet, I am talking about Google Alerts.
Setup a daily Alert for each of your keywords and once you have made a post, check to see whether your Google optimization efforts have been recognised. If they have then your post will feature in your daily alert and you will be able to attract new friends and readers via this keyword.
However if nothing happens then I suggest you return to your village and rethink your content networking strategy.
