The Internet has not altered our natural instincts that were forged over many thousands of years, we are as a species a pretty poor predator. This is why the desire for social and joint venture partnerships is so ingrained inside each and every one of us.
If we compare our online activity to that of the modern predators that still manage to survive on our planet, there is a figure that you will recognize.
When one of these animals is working on its own and trying to providing for itself, it has only a 5% success rate, have you heard this low percentage mentioned elsewhere?
This is the oft quoted figure that only 5% of Internet marketers will ever achieve enough online to make it worthwhile to continue.
However the predator that works as part of a team has a far greater chance of success, in fact it will find that in over a third of cases the team manages to provide successfully for all of its members.
Lucky for those that are part of a joint venture but if you have ever read the ranting of the solitary marketer then they are akin to the man-eating lion. This lion has become so desperate for survival that it has resorted to attacking its greatest protector, however this protection can quickly turn to attack and thus from that point onwards its life is doomed. Now clearly the lonely marketer who attacks others is not going to have their head served up on a plate but their career will most definitely suffer this fate.
Before you can hope to become part of a successful team there is an essential journey that you have to take and this has remained true for over 2000 years.
Know Thyself.
Once you know and understand who you are, you are ready to become part of a team. With the realization that comes from this journey, you are able to appreciate your skills and present these confidently to those who would benefit from your abilities. Of course no skill is static, it can always be improved. This is what you see in all successful walks of life, these people have completed their journeys and are now able to put to one side all distractions until they complete their primary goal.
The team that would have you as a member will be more likely to appreciate your efforts if they can identify what you bring to the table before you arrive.
Do not await the call, get out there and leave markers for those hunting for your skills. Whilst you are doing this you are improving those very skills that are in demand and creating a following that is happy to vouch for your abilities in this area.
